Welcome to my blog

My blog has come about because purely because some people saw something in me that I did not see in myself.

As I’m sure you have gathered from the title I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia.

Both pretty nasty medical conditions. I would occasionally post challenges I was facing, hospital stints, doctor’s visitor’s etc. on Facebook.

What made my posts different? I had a light hearted approach to situations that others would find distressing; hell even outright terrifying!

I started getting comments about how funny it was to read my take on the challenges I was facing. How, despite what I was facing I could still find the funny bits as I navigated my new normal.

They asked that instead of having the odd Facebook post that I start an actual blog because they were so keen to read about my shenanigans but at the same time understand the medical conditions and what I was going through.

To those people I say thank you. Thank you for pestering me or this blog would not be happening. Thank you for believing in me and supporting me. This is my massive shout out to you because there are toooooo many of you to mention by name! Love you all!

Okay so what have you gotten yourself in for by subscribing to this blog?

This is a blog about, but not limited to my living with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. While these medical conditions play a huge part of my life they do not define me.  I am so much more than that. The blog will definitely be peppered with stories about my random life.

It’s a place where I encourage you to share your stories and thoughts. To exchange ideas and learn. It’s not just for people who have these conditions. It’s for those who have loved ones with these conditions to better understand what their loved on is going through. It’s for people who are curious about these conditions.

It’s also for people who want to come and read some of my crazy adventures, random, bizarre happenings in my life but also a place where we can discuss what is going on in the world.

Think of my blog of a time warp (see the randomness has started!). I will take you through the journey from the beginning of my diagnosis but also something happened that week. So not reaaally chronological…. because again. Random.

You’d think that my next post would be about my diagnosis? Wrong! I am going to take you through the recent epidural neck procedure I went through as it’s quite the story.

I hope you come back to read the horror story. It does have a lovely ending. Morphine patches. I should probably have put a disclaimer at the beginning that I’m typing this hocked up on morphine patches. Oops. lol. There are no unicorns asking me to dance the Macarena with them so I think I’m okay to write this.

My aim is to post regularly. The next post will explain why at first the posts might be slow but I can assure you it will pick. At this point I’m pretty sure you’ve figured out that I love to talk!

I look forward to engaging with all of you and sharing my experiences with you….

For now I have to run.. Barney is waving at me from the kitchen which probably means I should go take nap.
