So today after struggling with a messed up nerve in my mouth for three weeks I had to have a root canal! Yes, on top of all the other crap I was going through I had bad inflammation in my mouth. Insane pain. It got to a point that nothing was working…. and I’m on some pretty strong anti-inflammatories and painkillers. Luckily I have an awesome Dentist and he saw me on the same day.
After the painful, long procedure we discussed after care. I asked him if I could take brufen because it does help for dental pain and inflammation for me. He said that they were no longer prescribing ibubrufen in light of the Corona virus… It in fact makes the disease worse!! He said especially me because I was on a high dose of immunosuppressents and taking brufen would put me in an incredibly bad position. Ah life with Lupus. So damn complicated. Why must Lupus be so extra??
So I fact checked of course and yes, ibubrufen does indeed mess with the corona virus. To give you a better understanding you can check out the article here : https://www.sciencealert.com/who-recommends-to-avoid-taking-ibuprofen-for-covid-19-symptoms
I’ve included only the one link but if you Google it you will find more articles if you’d like to read up on it. Alot of people take ibubrufen. Period cramps, inflammation etc. Please be careful and ask questions if you are prescribed these meds.
Before you go … I was wondering .. am I the only person who clenches their butt when they’re in the Dentist chair? While he was deep in working on me… which was painful despite the anaesthetic I realised how rigid I had made my body and that I was clenching my butt? I thought “Oh God I hope neither he nor the assistant had seen this!” I realised that if someone walked in they’d probably think I was going through an exorcism! My body was rigid, in a weird position and everything was permanently clenched! My face was contorted and my mouth wide open like I was going to start speaking in a demonic voice”
Hey.. it was painful! Your body reacts in weird ways π From my posts you know my body is just weird. Not fun weird. Ridiculous weird. Just wondering if it’s just me?
What do you do when you are in the dentist chair to keep yourself from screaming? What do you do to keep yourself “composed”?
Don’t forget! No ibuprofen!

I had a Dentist who had a “where’s Waldo” poster on the ceiling. Genius

Dentists makes me nervous. Waiting in the waiting room and hearing the sound of the drills they use makes it worse.

I know! I’m glad go have found a good one. He also has knowledge of chronic illnesses and how the meds affect your teeth. I’m sure if it was another dentist it would be a full on attack. I’ve actually asked him to do a piece for this blog. I just shut my eyes and try deep breathing! Only yesterday for some reasons did I realise how much I scrunch up! What a sight π¬

Clench butt when in a dentist chair is my default position. Lol.
Hi Tracey… some recent articles suggest there’s no definitive evidence that ibuprofen worsens the virus. Not saying it to be pedantic, but just in case there are some concerns from those that are on scripts.

Thank you for the info! All angles welcome!
I slipped myself some after that dentist visit even though he didn’t want me to take it π¬
